
The Luso-American Life Insurance Society (LALIS), a fraternal benefit society domiciled in the state of California and licensed in nine states, has elected officers and six new board members at its recent Triennial National Council Meeting. The officers will serve in their capacity for three years. The Board members serve for a six year term. The National Council is the Society's highest governing body. Mr. John M. Dias, of Newark, California, was re-elected as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Joseph B. Vieira, of San Jose, California, is the new President of LALIS, succeeding Ms. Edite Furtado, of Quincy, Massachusetts. The new Vice-Chair of the Board is Mr. Narcie J. Ferreira of Rancho Cucamonga, California. The Society was founded in 1868 in the city of San Francisco, California, and has its Home Office in Dublin, California. In the East Coast, LALIS has an office in Lexington, Massachusetts. The Society has three fraternal divisions totaling nearly 21,000 members. The six new directors elected to the board are Mario Ferreira, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Joseph F. Machado, Los Banos, California; Aires Pavao, Berlin, Massachusetts; Patricia Romano, Quincy, Massachusetts; Jose Soares, Kearney, New Jersey; and John Tavares, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The two directors re-elected for their second six year term are Carlos Amaral, Hayward, California; and Narcie J. Ferreira, Rancho Cucamonga, California. The directors currently serving on the board, with three years remaining on their term, are Vicki Barrios, Hanford, California; John M. Dias, Newark, California; Joe M. Machado, Hayward, California; Tony Martins, Artesia, California; Cecelia Souza, Stockton, California; Joseph B. Vieira, San Jose, California; and Linda Vieira, Santa Clara, California.
