Trans-Atlantic Relationships: Sharing Experiences on the Political and Economic Trajectories of the Azores and the State of Rhode Island"

Professors of Political Science from the University of the Azores and from Rhode Island College as well as state elected officials will present theoretical perspectives and empirical realities regarding the political and economic issues of each area.

The participants will examine American federalism versus European regionalism and the impact that each may impose on the development of its individual states or regions. Such themes as economic development and the political realities that affect that development will be explored.

The Institute for Portuguese and Lusophone World Studiesis pleased to present this forum in conjunction with theEuropean Youth Parliament - Azores and the Direcção Regional das Comunidades do Governo Regional dos Açores.

Students and all members of the community are invited to attend. There will be time allotted for discussion and questions and answers.

The forum is free and open to the public however we ask that you register in order to allow us to plan for materials and refreshments.
